It has inherent diversity by default . That is the reason it is tolrant , that is the reason it is flexible. Buddha is considered as one of the 12 avatars of lord Vishnu . Hinduism is like a tree with different branches . Be it jains ,Buddhist ,Sikhs etc . As far as other religions are concerned .. there is no denying that they were Hindus at one point , converted by coercion or by free will .that is a seperate issue . The only exceptions are Parsis who were refugges from islamic persia . However as the author pointed out these issues are irrelevant in the contemporary world .Paritoshhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10883159798362176412noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1925268917941863267.post-52596939860852937032011-08-15T13:16:47.734+05:302011-08-15T13:16:47.734+05:30I must say, this has been an interesting read. Going through the entire article has been a refreshing experience. You have greatly matured as a writer. This is good stuff. I would however comment on the part where there was mention about the conversion of hindus to Islam. For your readers' information a majority of hindu converts were from the Sufi movement which was very powerful during the rule of the turks as well as the mughals. Countries like Iran did face large scale forced conversions but in India Islam spread more through Sufism and less by the sword. This nation of ours has the ability of absorb cultures and re-emerge with a new identity every few hundred years. Today the food we eat, the language we speak and the clothes we wear is a direct result of the ever-changing spirit of India. I hope it stays this way for ever. Jai Hind and happy independence day to all my Indian friends. The Lonely Wandererhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05655151631494292904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1925268917941863267.post-79591212224635670852011-08-15T13:12:05.519+05:302011-08-15T13:12:05.519+05:30This comment has been removed by the author. The Lonely Wandererhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05655151631494292904noreply@blogger.com
